On June 1st 2007, an agreement has been signed between Russian federation and all countries included in EU (Netherland also). Dutch (NETHERLAND passport holders) wishing to obtain a Russian visa (either tourist visa, business visa, transit or private visa – single entry, double entry, multiple entries) should fulfill some formalities and provide some important documents to the Russian embassy (Den Haag). A single or double entry visa (tourist) costs for NETHERLAND passport holders is 35 € if you do it in the normal period (4-20 days). The same visa in time of emergency (emission within 3 days) is twice the amount (70 €). You can have the latest information on the new website of the embassy. You can also visit the consular section of the embassy at: ambru.nl.
When applying for a Russian visa, the first step the NETHERLAND citizens has to do is to decide what type of visa one wants / needs to apply for. The type of Russian visa that Dutch will choose is not so much according to the real purpose of the trip (business or tourism) but rather the length of stay and the autonomy Dutch want to have when staying in Russia.
Whatever the final choice is for NETHERLAND passport holders, an official invitation from an agency, a hotel, company or private person in Russia will be necessary to obtain a Russian visa. The vast majority of Dutch traveling in Russia for a period of less than a month will apply for one month tourist visa. In these circumstances, the application is simple and quite straight forward when receiving your “Russian voucher”. If you are a NETHERLAND passport holders you can request a « official invitation for Russia » right now with the Saint-Petersburg based Travel agency. Once you receive the “voucher” from our travel agency, you may apply for your visa to the embassy of Den Haag.
